Welcome to the Family

You have believed the Gospel. Here is what that means, and five simple steps to help you begin.

This is the beginning of a new life with God. You do not have to figure it out alone. Take these steps at your own pace, and come back to this page whenever you need it.

Five short steps. You can do the first one today.

What just happened

When you believed the Gospel, God did three things for you.

Forgiven

Jesus paid the full penalty for your sins. The debt is erased.

Your first five steps

Simple, practical, and doable.

1
Step 1 of 5Ephesians 1:13-14

Be sure of what you have

Your assurance rests on what Christ did, not on how you feel. His work is finished, and the Holy Spirit seals everyone who believes.

Try this today

  • Read Truth 6 about being sealed by the Spirit.
  • Write down, in your own words, what you believe about Christ.

Step 2 of 52 Timothy 2:15

Read the Bible a little each day

You grow by reading God's Word. Start small, even one short passage a day, and let it sink in.

Try this today

  • Pick a daily time and place, even five minutes.
  • Suggested places to begin: the Gospel of John, then Romans and Ephesians.

Talk with God

Prayer is simply talking to God. Speak to Him the way you would to someone you trust.

Try this today

  • Thank Him for what Christ has done for you.
  • Tell Him what is on your heart today.

Step 4 of 5Hebrews 10:25

When doubts come

Almost every new believer wonders about these things.

What if I don't feel any different?
Feelings come and go. Your salvation does not rest on how you feel, but on what Christ did and on the Spirit who seals you (Ephesians 1:13-14). Keep reading, keep praying, and give it time.
What if I still sin or struggle?
Every believer struggles. Christ paid the penalty for sin, and "there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). Keep growing, and bring your struggles to God and to other believers.
What if I have doubts or questions?
Honest questions are welcome. Ask them in our Facebook group or write to us, and we will do our best to help you find the answer in Scripture.
Where do I start reading?
A good start is the Gospel of John, followed by Romans and Ephesians. You can also explore our Blueprint page to see how the whole Bible fits together.
